You would be hard-pressed to find a clearer picture of the gospel of Jesus Christ than foster care. Jesus himself said, “I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.” John 14:18. It ended up costing him his very life.
Fostering takes a lot of work and energy, it is truly a challenging task to come alongside children who, for one reason or another, are no longer able to be with their parents. It’s such hard work that half of the families who sign up to foster will give up within the first year.
But this is not a statistic that we must roll over and accept. Olive Crest, a Christian based foster resource center has found that when a team of 4-8 people come around a foster care family and support them through simple things like watching their children so they can get a night out, or bringing them a meal, 90% of those families foster into their second year and beyond!
It’s our hope at Sideris that we can build 2 teams to care for 1 family that fosters within Sideris and 1 family that is outside of Sideris ~ we are providing this informational meeting to help people envision how they might participate in one of those teams no strings attached!
This will take place on December 6th @ 12:30pm over zoom. We are asking all who are interested to register so that we can send them a postmates giftcard so they can order a lunch delivered for our time together :-)
